Nassau, Bahamas - The following is an FNM press statement dated February 16th, 2012:
Yet again,
Allyson Maynard Gibson, Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate
has thrown one of her PLP colleagues under the bus.
Bahamians recall
when Senator Gibson reported former Senator Pleasant Bridgewater to
the Prime Minister. This resulted in Ms. Bridgewater’s resignation
from the Senate where Mrs. Maynard Gibson was Senator Bridgewater’s
leader.
She appears
not to have initially informed her party leader before speaking to the
Prime Minister Ingraham about Ms. Bridgewater.
In the Senate
yesterday, Senator Gibson once again betrayed another colleague. While
the Leader of Government Business in the Senate Dion Foulkes was referring
to a United States Embassy (Nassau) cable released by WikiLeaks, Senator
Gibson insisted that Senator Foulkes officially table the cable in the
official records of the Senate.
Senator Foulkes
immediately agreed to table the document. This made the cable
available to the press and to the general public. As Senator Maynard
Gibson has done unto Pleasant Bridgewater she has also done unto Fred
Mitchell.
