FNM: Cooper – Still a mouthpiece for PLP misbehaviour

The Free National Movement (FNM) issued the following statement regarding Chester Cooper’s repeat of the PLP’s rhetoric concerning the Government’s solutions for BPL:

“Ill timed. That was the thesis of Brave Davis’ closest protégée, the loquacious Chester Cooper, in commenting on the Electricity Rate Reduction Bond Bill. Only the woeful PLP could take as many paragraphs to say absolutely nothing meaningful, while simultaneously proving their own incompetence.

“Only the hypocritical PLP could design a bill, fail to implement it, and then later criticise leaders who have the integrity to take action on behalf of all Bahamians. Cooper and his PLP cohort failed to bring solutions to our struggle with power production because when it was time to step up to the plate, protecting their political interests was more important than protecting Bahamians’ quality of life. A mouthpiece for PLP misbehaviour, Chester Cooper will continue cosying up to his political benefactors instead of supporting a way forward for our beloved nation.

“It must have been too ill timed for the woeful PLP to deliver on their promise of improving the conditions of the Family Islands. It must have been ill timed for the calloused PLP to deliver on their promise of upgrading the islands’ landfills. It must have been ill timed for the incompetent PLP to deliver on their promise of doubling education expenditure. Lastly, the neglectful PLP has always found it ill timed to take action on BPL, as they watched it deteriorate for five years fully intending to pass their mess on to the next Government. Bahamians are well aware of how the PLP’s neglect has prevented progress, particularly when it comes to electricity generation and distribution.

“No matter how many childish tantrums the PLP manage to produce in Parliament or elsewhere, our FNM Government, under the sound leadership of Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis, will continue taking the necessary action to move The Bahamas toward cleaner, cheaper and more reliable energy production. The FNM understands there is no ill time to do what is right when Bahamians are suffering and will continue working for the people, as they expect nothing less from their elected leaders.”
