Though criticism of BPL mounted for five years under the woeful PLP, the Christie Administration continued to neglect needed upgrades, choosing rather to pass on the results of their complacency to the next government.

-What They Did Then-

“Today’s load shedding occurs because of the PLP decided to continue using outdated equipment, some 60 years old, rather than planning upgrades to improve service, capacity and reliability.

-What They’re Doing Now-

“The neglectful PLP continues to hurl criticism at the government’s management of BPL, despite the fact that our government is working overtime to clean up PLP’s mess.

-What’s Next-

The FNM Government has identified realistic solutions to upgrade BPL’s equipment and facilities, like the anticipated launch of Station A – and will continue to do so.  We will ensure Bahamians will be able to go about their lives without frequent disruptions, as we deliver reliable power at a lower cost over time, methodically cleaning up the mess we inherited from a neglectful Christie Administration.”
