The following is a statement from J. Kwasi Thompson, Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister.

I am thankful to God for his grace and favor on my life. I wish to thank Prime Minister Hubert Minnis for the confidence reposed in me and for providing me with this opportunity to serve my country and the people of Grand Bahama. I accept the appointment with humility recognizing that there is little time to celebrate as there is much work to be done.

It is my firm belief that leadership is about service and I hope to serve the people of Grand Bahama with integrity and excellence.

The Prime Minister has expressed that Grand Bahama will be given high priority on the Government’s agenda and the need to create more employment and ensure Grand Bahama’s full economic recovery. We will begin immediately to make our assessments and begin the implementation of parts of our Manifesto as soon as possible.

I congratulate all my colleagues especially those in Grand Bahama and look forward to working with them as we seek to better the lives of all Bahamians.
