Pintard: Minnis relishes chance to demonstrate the clear difference in the choice of leadership

The Hon. Dr. Hubert A. Minnis welcomes the opportunity to debate national issues alongside whomever emerges as the leader of the PLP, once elect ion is called. In the event that it is Perry G. Christie. Dr. Minnis relishes chance to demonstrate the clear difference in the choice of leadership.

The years of eloquent pronouncements by Perry G. Christie has not been accompanied by concrete actions that have resulted is transforming Bahamian lives. Christie talks a great deal but delivers very little. He prides himself on the ability to speak extemporaneously however, he does not place the same importance in governing.

No doubt, one important requirement of leadership is to be able to articulate vision and plan of action. But if we stop there the desired or stated outcome is not achieved. Other equally important leadership traits are:

1) Ability to implement stated plans
2) Exercising good judgment when faced with tough choices
3) Ability to exercise discipline in speech, managing a team, and insisting on the effective and efficient operation of the system of government
4) Honesty in speech (can we trust your word) and behavior
5) Being results oriented.

While Perry G. Christie has become overly reliant on the gift of speech, Dr. Hubert Minnis continues to demonstrate the leadership abilities in his private and public life that the new Bahamas needs.

We strongly believe that Mr Christie called for a debate is his last ditch effort to appeal to the one quality "sweet talk" he has used over the years to mask his incompetence, inefficiencies and failure to "act" in meaningful ways that improve Bahamian lives. One thing is becoming clear to the outgoing PM is that even when he can muster a good message people know that he is all talk and lack the capabilities to "walk the walk" – PM Christie is simply the wrong person to lead the Bahamas.
