Minnis says $20 Million Loan is Desperate PLP Campaign Ploy

The Free National Movement notes with interest this failing Christie led Progressive Liberal Party government's intent to borrow $20 million from the International Development Bank (IDB) to supposedly create jobs. After four years of falling miserably short on delivering the thousands of jobs promised during the 2012 election campaign, this loan, as we see it, serves as a last minute desperate PLP campaign ploy. Ongoing missteps by this government have resulted in thousands of Bahamians losing jobs. We remind Prime Minister Christie and his government that the distribution of funds secured on behalf of the Bahamian people should not be guided andor influenced by a selfish political agenda.

While the government says the $20 million will be used to provide training and job placement for young people, the PLP, by virtue of its own track record, cannot be trusted to execute such a process with any level of fairness ortransparency. The FNM will hold Christie's feet to the fire to give an accurate account of theapplication exercise, the recipients and the amounts. As a General Election draws near, this government has done very little and for the most part, nothing to empower Bahamians. Sadly, our country has a leader who is worn out and obsessed with paying millions of dollars to foreign consultants while qualified and talented Bahamians suffer. A newly elected FNM government will be keenly focused on empowerment and entrepreneurship to improve the quality of life for all Bahamians. The people of The Bahamas cannot and will not be fooled by any last minute PLP plan that amounts to nothing more than trying to buy votes. In true Christie form, this government is yet again a day late and a dollar short. WE NEED CHANGE.
