From the Office of the Chair of  the Progressive Liberal Party on Tribune Inquiry on Morgue in Cat Island:

The following statement comes in answer to a question put by Morgan Adderley of The Tribune on the morgue in Cat Island and related issues. The MP for Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador the Hon. Philip Davis has authorized the following statement:

The situation with the morgue should be properly addressed to the FNM administration. There were provisions for a morgue in the construction of the new clinic which had begun under Mr. Davis' superintendence as Works Minister but was stopped by the FNM government upon coming to office. To date, construction on the clinic has not resumed and we do not know when it will resume. If the clinic is completed as designed, then a morgue will be part of it - that is, if it is built according to the PLP's original architectural design and approved plan.

I am advised that additionally, arrangements have been made  through local government to secure a cooler to be used as a temporary morgue on Cat Island. The issue reported in the media about the use of a bathtub and ice appears to have been a regrettable one off and temporary situation which is being exaggerated for political purposes. Budgetary issues should also be referred to the present administration.
