PLP Party Leader Rt. Hon. Perry Christie and Deputy Leader Philip Brave Davis joined PLP candidate for Sea Breeze Sen. Hope Strachan in the opening of the party's branch office in the Community on Saturday evening.

Nassau, Bahamas - PLP chiefs
Perry Christie and
Philip Brave Davis last evening opened the Sea Breeze command centre on Joe Farrington Road opposite Galilee School.
Party leader Christie encouraged the team in the community to continue their hard work as they deliver new hope to the Bahamas.
He told the many residents gathered that a strong woman like
Hope Strachan,
who has preformed as a committed Senator, deserves to be elected to the
House of Assembly and will no doubt represent the people of the
community well in the next PLP government.

Party deputy leader
Philip Brave Davis told
the community gathered that the time has come to send a representative
to Parliament who will speak for the people of Sea Breeze. He pointed
to that fact that the present MP has become silent when it comes to
speaking about the concerns of this area.
Davis said, “The global economy hurt The Bahamas but the FNM’s mismanagement and short-sighted policies made it so much worse.
“They
raised taxes across the board when other governments worldwide were
reducing tax burdens to help people through tough times.”
Sighting
attention to the poorly managed roads, which have disrupted the once
quiet community of Sea Breeze, Davis added, “They borrowed millions to
do the roadworks, but gave too many of those jobs to foreigners - all
that debt our children and their children are on the hook for and we
didn’t even stimulate our economy or ease Bahamian unemployment!”
“Prince Charles has been dug up and paved. Dug up again and paved, and right now it is dug up again.”
He said this has reeked havoc on businesses in the area and has forced the closures and loss of jobs for workers.
The
deputy leader urged residents to register and vote for the future of
this country, adding that the time has come for Bahamians to believe in
the Bahamas and elect a government that will put people first.
Remarks by PLP Deputy Leader Philip Brave Davis
Sea Breeze Opening
Saturday 28th Jan. 2012.
Joe Farrington Road
Nassau, Bahamas
I could feel a fresh breeze is picking up in Sea Breeze tonight!
Mr. Party Leader….
To the Next Member of Parliament and ONLY HOPE for Sea Breeze - Hope Strachan…
Team Sea Breeze and you gathered…
Good Evening….
We are at the gate…and time is short…
We know they on the other side are dangerously running desperate.
Papa is getting so desperate these days he now says he Believes in Bahamians.
All along he’s been saying “Bahamians need not apply”, but with just a
few weeks to go he’s singing a different tune!
We don’t need a Prime Minister who will only work some of the time. We
need a Prime Minister who will work for Bahamians all the time.
We know they are afraid to lose power. They’re scrambling now…because
they know Bahamians are ready for a new direction.
Sea Breeze: it is time to register. Do it first thing Monday morning.
Gather your loved ones and take them to The Parliamentary Registration
Office and get them ready.
Gather your sons and daughters now, because time is short.
Just take a look at the thousands who gathered in Grand Bahama last night.
Grand Bahama I can report is PLP COUNTRY!!!
They are sick and tired of how Crime, unemployment and the bad economy
were all poorly managed by the FNM.
These will be the hallmark of the Failed Outgoing FNM Government.
Hubert Ingraham’s 5 years in office, has proved he and his FNM do not
believe in Bahamians!
You trusted them and they abused that trust.
Tonight, I bring you the evidence of what I speak.
In these pages some residents, some in this community, are going
through the pain of losing their home.
On the 26th of January alone, a major institution in the Bahamas
listed 469 properties for sale.
This is only one of many institutions advertising properties for sale.
This is painful because after living years in a home - where do you
go? What do you tell the children?
The global economy hurt The Bahamas but the FNM’s mismanagement and
short-sighted policies made it so much worse.
They raised taxes across the board when other governments were
reducing tax burdens to help people through tough times.
They borrowed millions to do the roadworks, but gave too many of those
jobs to foreigners - all that debt our children and their children are
on the hook for and we didn’t even stimulate our economy or ease
Bahamian unemployment!
Prince Charles has been dug up and paved. Dug up again and paved, and
right now it is dug up again.
They did these roadworks in a way that causes maximum pain for small
businesses – with no planning and no consulting or discussion with
those who would be hit hardest by extended road closures.
They don’t listen and they don’t care.
Robinhood just up the street had to close its doors and workers were
sent home. THAT IS WHAT THE FNM DID! And now the word is the mother
store cannot survive after losing the all his investment.
And guess what else? After months and months of this, the MP for this
area is silent like a mouse in the House.
Not one word. No concern for you whatsoever.
Not one apology from the sitting MP!
They in the FNM should be asking for forgiveness and not votes!
Across the board and across the country, the FNM’s uncaring policies
have hit Bahamians hard.
When I go into homes all across this country I see it for myself.
I see young people who did their part to get an education, but they’re
being crowded out by foreigners in their own country.
I listen the stories of young single mothers, who are unable to keep
the lights on. Young children pulled out of schools because their
desperate parents cannot afford uniforms or supplies.
These are people I know and you know. They are our friends, some
neighbours, and many more are close relatives.
Sea Breeze, you know the story. That painful story where workers have
to cope with reduced hours or reduced wages or jobs lost altogether –
too many Bahamians are barely able to keep their heads above water.
They in the FNM should be asking for forgiveness and not votes!
With Bahamians struggling with obscene energy costs, have they managed
BEC well? Have they decreased our reliance on imported energy? I
think you know the answer to that – you can see it in your electricity
bill yourself.
When we in the PLP decreased taxes and delivered 22,000 jobs and
outpaced US growth by the end of our term, the FNM increased taxes and
today has delivered the highest unemployment levels on record.
When our solutions to crime -- Swift Justice, Urban Renewal, School
Policing, Witness Protection -- were starting to make a real
difference in communities like Sea Breeze, the FNM dismantled them all
for petty politics and today we are suffering because of it.
Elections are about one thing Sea Breeze: elections are about the future.
Elections are about restoring the dreams and aspirations of a people.
Elections are about building communities and restoring HOPE.
Today as we open this centre of HOPE, let us remember why we are here.
The Bahamas Needs the PLP!
To you standing here tonight, our country needs you.
The Bahamas is headed in the wrong direction.
As I said, elections are about the future, and you Sea Breeze must
decide if you wish to have five more years of a failed FNM Government.
Or turn the corner with the PLP and set the Bahamas back in the right
direction!
You need a government that governs all the time and not just at election time!
As your MP, Hope will be working with the next PLP government to bring
you smart, innovative policies. We’re going to enact tougher
sentences for illegal weapons, with sentencing in the Supreme Court.
We’re going to bring back an updated Urban Renewal, and we’re going to
have outreach workers in the streets for conflict mediation, so every
dispute doesn’t have to turn deadly.
We’re going to increase air and marine patrols, to reduce illegal
immigration and stem the avalanche of illegal arms brought into our
nation. We’re going to increase work permit fees for jobs where
Bahamians are qualified. We’re going to give people the education,
training and skills they need to compete in the 21st century.
We’re going to invest in people.
Aren’t you ready for a government that believes in Bahamians?
Aren’t you ready for a government that will put Bahamians first?
Aren’t you ready for HOPE?!?!
I know you are!
Send HOPE Strachan as your next Member of Parliament for Sea Breeze.
She represents HOPE! Real HOPE in Sea Breeze!
She is the voice we need in a PLP Government! A strong woman! A BRAVE woman!
And the kind of fighter who will send Carl Bethel back into early retirement!
Sea Breeze, I urge you to join the great march that is gathering all
across this country behind the PLP!
Come with us as we set a course to Put Bahamians Back to Work!
Come with us as we point young Bahamians into an era of prosperity and growth!
Come with us as we build our nation and restore Opportunity to the
thousands of our countrymen and women.
Come with us as we restore JOB OPPORTUNITIES back into this economy
and new business opportunities for all our people.
Come with us, and send HOPE STRACHAN INTO THE HOUSE!
Come with us!
BELIEVE in the Bahamas as we in the PLP believe in you!
PLP….PLP…..PLP
Thank You, Sea Breeze, and God Bless …
