National Party Chairman

The Progressive Liberal Party

January 26, 2010

During the address by Party Leader the Rt. Hon. Perry G. Christie at the opening of the Elizabeth Constituency Bye Election Headquarters on Prince Charles Drive, a the FNM Mobile Music truck, blasting music rudely attempted to interrupt the large gathering of PLP supporters assembled.

PLP supporters were very annoyed and moved to block the passage of the music truck. The police moved quickly to avoid a confrontation and directed the driver of the music van to turn it around. In the process, a party supporter overheard the driver tell the police officer in charge that ‘his job will be gone in the morning after he reported to the chief’.

The Progressive Liberal Party sees this intervention as a naked serious provocation and urges the Free National Movement to cease and desist from such acts as the same can only lead to unnecessary confrontation between supporters. The Progressive Liberal Party wishes all parties involved in the bye-election to remain calm and avoid any form of confrontation.
