Nassau, Bahamas - PLP Deputy Leader, Bradley B Roberts remarks at the opening of Yamacraw Headquarters opening on February 13th, 2012:

Thank You Yamacraw!

Mr. Party Leader….

To the Hon. Melanie Griffin our Brave Woman in the east and Mr . Griffin…

Team Yamacraw.

PLPs, Bahamas

Good Evening….

We are at the gate…

And from what I hear, they tell me it is a clean sweep in favour of the PLP!

I am told the punishment up here for the FNM will be so severe, Brent “Hot Mix” Symonette - yes, the man who benefited from contracts while he served as Deputy Prime Minister - is on the run.

I am told Zhivargo “Mona Vie” Laing is running out of Grand Bahama and back into Fort Charlotte where he got a beating the last time he was in Nassau.

Breaking information confirms to me that the man who delivered that high electricity bill to us for the past four years, Phenton “Lights out” Neymour, is now no more after these elections.

He is headed far away to Exuma where the helicopter man hangs out.

Exuma will give him a knockout!

You know, speaking about helicopters, I just remember Mr. ‘Wine and Dine’ Deveaux is leaving politics altogether.

The FNM’s scandalous affairs with him during its last term in office have left Deveaux in the role of cheerleader for the circus.

Papa Clown doesn’t want him, the people of Marathon rejected him and soon the people he wines and dines will tell him, “ Hit the road jack!”

Desmond “Abandon” Bannister has abandoned the people of Carmichael, and over the weekend was campaigning with Papa Clown as the circus went to North Andros.

Loretta Gone, Larry retired, they dump Jacinta…

They told McAlpine go start the church back up because the FNM will need a place to repent after the next election.

We have them on the run, Yamacraw. They are all running away from the people!

Ask them Why they run….

Before all this, they told Kenneth Russell we don’t need your services anymore!

Poor Kenneth, he got a dose of the ‘Bahamians need not apply’ medicine.

Papa is desperate. He has lost it! And he is staring defeat in the eye.

Amidst all this betrayal and mutiny in the FNM, I hear they have decided to send their most seasoned, loser of a candidate in this election to seek the support from you the decent people of Yamacraw.

After getting sacked by the people of Blue Hills in 2002, and rejected by MICAL in the last election, Dion Foulkes gat plenty nerve to come up against a five star general like Melanie.

Don’t forget it Yamacraw, the FNM is running scared, bucking up against each other and putting candidates in constituencies where they have no loyalty whatsoever to you the constituent.

This is like putting a square peg in a round hole.

Don’t forget now - I need you to remember this - this is the same Cabinet Minister who as the minister for education issued “Questionable Contracts” to friends without going to tender.

The same man seeking your vote up here in Yamacraw for the FNM is alleged to have abused the public purse for his personal gain to support his leadership bid in the FNM.

Could you imagine that?

He wanted to win a Party office and in doing so issued contracts to persons so their vote could tilt in his favour.

And guess what? The current Prime Minister promised to call an investigation into the matter and it never happened.

Yamacraw, does that sound like someone you want to send to Parliament to represent you?

And while we are on this point of contracts let me say this.

I am concerned that after five years in office the Prime Minister of the Bahamas would abuse his office and the public purse desperate attempt to sway voters in this election.

Issuing payments in a Jumpstart Program to voters just before an election?

Hiring persons on a Temporary Jobs Program for six months while young Bahamians sat without a job for years?

Telling BEC to cut 6,000 households lights on after instructing the Corporation to cut them off in 2008?

Why Now?

How many months and years have these same families endured darkness?

A day too late and many many dollars short.

They must be think we fool!

Hubert Ingraham and the FNM did nothing in four years while Bahamians families struggled.

We don’t need a government who can work for us only at election time; we need a government who will work for Bahamians all the time.

For four years: -

The FNM delivered to Bahamians a cancelled student loan program.

They delivered to Bahamians higher taxes on gas, car inspection and licenses, books, pencils, baby pampers, and children's under clothes.

They delivered the largest budget deficit ever seen in modern times, pushing the national debt of the Bahamas to over 4.5 billion dollars.

They delivered the Bahamas as the worst producing country in the entire Caribbean region with high unemployment and no new investments.

The delivered to Bahamians the highest unemployment rate of 15.9%, with unemployment among young people at 34%.

That is the record of Dion Foulkes, the man who was supposed to protect Bahamian jobs, but was seen shipping them out of the backdoor.

Now he wants your vote Yamacraw.

The FNM should be asking for forgiveness – NOT VOTES!

Imagine that! You could not support and protect Bahamians jobs and now come election time I should support you?

Dion Foulkes sat right in the Cabinet and supported the contracts to a foreign company to build these poorly managed road construction.

He knew full well Bahamians could build roads. But he did nothing!

You cannot support that kind of representation Yamacraw. You need Melanie who can and will fight for you. With a Melanie who will look after the interest of the Bahamians People.

You need Melanie and the PLP

You need someone who will look after the interest of Bahamians and will represent [without scandal] the decent people of this community.

You need Melanie and the PLP!

Now, Yamacraw, I want talk to you about some serious business. This thing called voting.

The country is going with the PLP.

Every community you walk in and persons you listen to - they are behind the PLP.

Bahamians are sick and tired of this outgoing bunch who don’t believe in anything Bahamian.

The FNM leader is so desperate these days now he says he Believes in Bahamians.

All along he’s been saying “Bahamians need not apply”.

I ga say it again, we don’t need a Prime Minister who will only work at election time. We need a Prime Minister who will work for Bahamians all the time.

And Yamacraw - that man is Perry Christie and the PLP!

We know they are afraid to lose power. They’re scrambling now…because they know Bahamians are ready for a new direction.

They know Bahamians have caught onto them.

Yamacraw: it is time to register. Do it first thing in the morning.

Gather your loved ones and take them to The Parliamentary Registration Office and get them ready.

You can only vote if you register.

Gather your sons and daughters now, because time is short.

Just take a look at the thousands who gathered in Nassau Friday night.

You know, while in Andros over the weekend Papa called it and I quote: a Man-made Category 5…!

You are right Mr. Ingraham! It will be that category 5 which will leave the FNM DEVASTATED after the next general election.

Grand Bahama is PLP COUNTRY.

Ryan Pinder has Elizabeth on lock.

Fred Mitchell has Fox Hill on Lock.

Seabreeze tell me there is only ONE HOPE in that community this time.

Our man Gregory Burrows tells me Brent had to get out the way cause this time St Annes is coming home to the PLP.

Melanie Griffin is a key player on our team.

Her work in social services in our last term in office was a stellar performance.

She left huge footprints to fill.

Trust me on this: Hubert Ingraham was prophetic when he said he saw a PLP Category 5 coming for the FNM.

The PLP big win will begin with the ‘Sweep in the East’

Taking all the seats in this part of the country.

Crime, unemployment and the bad economy were all poorly managed by the FNM.

These will be the hallmark of the Failed Outgoing FNM Government.

Yamacraw!!!

Stay with us in the PLP…for a great march is gathering behind your PLP Party!

Come with us as we restore peace on the streets and become our brothers and sisters keeper.

Come with us as we create neighbourhoods around the country where children are raised by our communities.

Come with us as we set a course to Put Bahamians Back to Work!

Come with us as we point young Bahamians into an era of prosperity and growth!

Come with us as we build our nation and restore Opportunity to thousands of our countrymen and women.

Come with us as we restore JOB OPPORTUNITIES back into this economy and new business opportunities for all our people.

Come with us, and send back to Parliament our Brave woman Melanie Griffin!

Stay with us!

As we BELIEVE in the Bahamas!

PLP….PLP…..PLP

Thank You, Yamacraw, and God Bless …
