Roberts: More questions for Sidney Collie
Apr 21, 2016 - 9:51:14 AM

Nassau, Bahamas - The following is a press statement by Bradley B. Roberts National Chairman Progressive Liberal Party:

Since Sidney Collie is presenting himself as the self-proclaimed expert on corruption and scandal, I have a few more questions for him.

I am sure Mr. Collie is fully aware of any number of padded and secret contracts the FNM government awarded to party officers in the run up to the leader elect race of 2001. A contractor paid for the victory party. Was the FNM not using the public treasury to "take care of its own" to achieve a very specific political objective? Was this practice corrupt and in contravention of the Financial Administration and Audit Act?

Mr. Collie may or may not be aware that his colleague and FNM Cabinet Minister secured a loan from a public financial institution while he sat as a cabinet minister. To date that loan is not repaid, is non-performing and contributing to the continued financial woes of that public bank. Did politics influence this loan? Was this an abuse of power? I also point out that the loans in question granted by the Bank of The Bahamas predated the current board and government administration.

On the issue of eccentric billionaires, I am aware of two who reside from time to time in Lyford Cay and both are on record in their admission to making financial contributions to both the FNM and the PLP. The question for Collie is simply this: who is telling the truth? Also wealthy Lyford Cay residents have been the source of funding for local political parties for many years so what is Collie's point in April 2016? Was he asleep for the past generation?

Collie suggest that PLP are alleging enriching themselves but fail to mention a blatant current example of alleged FNM enrichment is currently on display in the Bahamas Supreme Court.

The fundamental problem with Collie's commentary is the messenger. On what moral authority does Collie point his and his party's hypocritical and self-righteous finger?

So compromised is Collie and his FNM party that he was unable to answer the first list of questions I put to him but he shoulders on.

Some more unsolicited advice for Collie. He should just go sit in a corner and be quiet. We could play this futile game of pin the corrupt tail on the donkey until Minnis comes clean about his involvement with gangsters Toggie and Bobo in the murder for hire scandal.
