On April 14th the Free National Movement welcomed Sidney Collie as their new chairman.  Collie, a longtime member of the party, former MP, Minister and Ambassador began his tenure laying out a clear contrast of visions for the future.

Leader of the opposition Dr. Hubert Minnis stated, “Sidney’s election as our next Chairman is a positive step forward for our party and for our country. He is a man of great honor and integrity.  He is a leader who has always put his county, family and honor at the forefront. I’m thrilled to head into an exciting and important time with him on the team.”

Sidney Collie has been a member of the FNM for 39 years, serving as Senator, Deputy Leader, Cabinet Minister, Ambassador and MP from the Blue Hills constituency.

Enthusiastic about the victory, Collie said “I am honored and excited to be elected chairman of a party that has always put the people first.  It’s a fact that the FNM serves the people, first, foremost and always,” said Collie.  “So I assure you that as Chairman I will stand firm against the intrusion of eccentric, foreign billionaires who think their money gives them a free pass to do whatever they want. I will stand shoulder to shoulder with everyone in this party to fight for a better tomorrow for us all, not just the few.  It is truly the people’s time in The Bahamas.”
