Nassau, Bahamas - Sidney Collie, Free National Movement (FNM) chairman, issued the following statement thanking volunteers, constituents and poll workers:

“It is indeed the peoples’ time. Bahamians have spoken, and together we will turn the page on these past years of corruption and mismanagement, to a better Bahamas where hope and opportunity replace the despair that has gripped our communities for far too long.

“The FNM’s historic victory would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of so many Bahamians who sacrificed their time and effort to a cause they believed in. I thank every volunteer for their strong commitment throughout this election, and every poll worker who helped yesterday’s election to run smoothly. Most importantly, I want to thank every Bahamian that exercised their right to vote in yesterday’s election, standing up for democracy and doing their part to begin rebuilding The Bahamas. Above all I want to give thanks and  praise to almighty GOD for guidance and his sustaining power over the entire country during This election cycle.

“Change begins now. The FNM’s effort to restore the nation’s economy, our work to fix the struggling education system and our focus on raising up our inner-cities begins today!  I want everyone to know that today, and going forward, the FNM will never lose sight of its priority to represent all Bahamians and will always maintain an emphasis on transparency and accountability”.
