The Torchbearers Youth Association (TYA) of the Free National Movement is saddened to learn of the overwhelming devastation to the Central and Southern Bahamas in the wake of Hurricane Joaquin. Our hearts and prayers go out to all our fellow Bahamians whose lives were negatively impacted by this powerful and destructive storm. The outpouring of generosity and charity that has been displayed by regular citizens, NGO's, the private sector and the international community demonstrates our collective humanity and love. It also gives hope to those affected and ensures a unified effort to rebuild their lives and communities.

As an organization committed to service and support, TYA is duty bound to render assistance in this critical time of need. Therefore, TYA is accepting donations to assist in hurricane relief efforts inclusive of but not limited to:

1. Baby food and clothing.

2. Baby diapers, wipes etc.

3. Clothing and school supplies for school age children and teenagers.

4. School uniforms.

5. Water, gatorade and other drinks.

6. Batteries, flashlights, phone chargers etc.

7. Household items, air beds and toiletries

8. Any other items you deem necessary to provide relief.

Donations may be dropped off at the FNM National Headquarters on Mackey Street between the hours of 9am to 7pm from Monday to Friday. TYA will also provide pick up services from your residence, if necessary. We invite all persons to contact us at fnmyouth@gmail / Tel: 393-7863 and on our Facebook page at Torchbearers Youth Association regarding pickup services.

TYA implores all young persons to lend a hand by either giving or volunteering their time to any relief effort being made. In addition, we recommended that the government provide temporary accommodations to affected persons with damaged or destroyed homes. We also call upon the Ministry of Education to ensure that provisions are made to enroll displaced students in schools at the earliest opportunity so their educational studies are not disrupted.

Finally, we give thanks to God for preserving life in the midst of this tragedy and we will continue to assist with our prayers and helping hands.
