Turnquest: Eight Mile Rock High School Deserves Better Attention
By Peter Turnquest, FNM Deputy Leader and MP, East Grand Bahama
May 2, 2016 - 10:53:24 AM

The touch and go renovations at the Eight Mile Rock High School by this government are clearly unsatisfactory. Reports of the presence of bats on the Eight Mile Rock campus are disturbing and demand full and focused attention.

The periodic tours government officials continue to take for the media provide no sustainable improvements at that school.  We call on the government to stop talking about the importance of education and to act.  A genuine, thorough and comprehensive action oriented plan at the Eight Mile Rock School is needed immediately.

Bats do not lend to a progressive learning environment.  Principal Butler, his entire staff, teachers, parents and students of Eight Mile Rock High School are to be commended for the high level of excellence being demonstrated under grave challenging conditions.  Eight Mile Rock High School deserves better and the Free National Movement will keep this uncaring government's feet to the fire to do better.
