SkyBahamas Announces Special Andros Business Outlook Flight

SkyBahamas Airline has announced a special flight for the Second Annual Andros Business Outlook. The flight leaves Nassau at 7am on Wednesday, May 11 and returns at 6:30pm that day. The Andros Business Outlook is a half-day event running from 8:30am to 3pm.

“I’m an Androsian and I am all about the development of Andros. So that’s why we are partnering with the Andros Business Outlook in this way. This programme is about the ‘Andros Assignment’, to innovate, invest and produce, and SkyBahamas is about innovating, investing and producing in Andros. So it’s a perfect match,” said Captain Randy Butler, president, SkyBahamas.

Under the theme, The Andros Assignment: Innovate, Invest, and Produce, the Second Annual Andros Business Outlook is expected to attract 100 attendees.

Andros Business Outlook 2011 speakers include the following:

· Edison Key, Bahamas Agricultural & Industrial Corporation (BAIC) executive chairman will give the keynote address;

· Paul Crevello, CEO, Bahamas Petroleum Company Plc will discuss the potential for the discovery of oil in the Bahamas;

· Algernon Cargill, director, National Insurance Board (NIB) will provide an update on NIB initiatives and how they relate to Andros;

· Eleanor Phillips, director, Northern Caribbean Programme, The Nature Conservancy will highlight the economic benefits of Andros’ natural resources;

· Frank Lam, agri-business specialist with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) speaks about ways to link the farm with the market;

· Johan Rostad, president of Cariluxe (Bahamas) Ltd will speak about the potential of the lumber industry in Andros;

· Captain Randy Butler, president, SkyBahamas Airline will share his vision for Andros;

· Edmund Rahming, president of the South Andros Chamber of Commerce discusses various investment opportunities in Andros;

· Leroy Sumner, Treasurer, T&SWCCU, past president of the Bahamas Cooperative League will discuss the need and the value of cooperatives;

· Benjamin Pratt, senior manager, Ministry of Tourism will address sustainable tourism in Andros; and

· Zendal Forbes, president, First Derivatives Counselling Limited, will address the topic, “The Future of Andros: Innovation and Sustainability”.

While SkyBahamas does not have a regular flight to Andros, Capt. Butler is excited that his company is able to provide this special flight. He is confident that the Andros Business Outlook will go a long way in generating public interest about the economy of Andros.
