On Thursday March 1st.   Mr. Archer while out of town received a call about 8:30am reporting his 34ft, Ocean Master Boat with Twin Yamaha 250’s, had been stolen from the Canal in the backyard of his Grandfather’s house.

After receiving this information he called another member of BASRA, Rod Lowe to explain the situation and request some help in locating the stolen vessel. Realizing that BASRA’s main function is for saving lives, Archer explained that he would pay for the fuel of the Rescue plane just to get it up in the air and searching.

This information was then forwarded onto the Chairman Mr. Godfrey Waugh, who ironically already had a plane up from a previous trip. The Captain of that plane then flew around the Lucayan Waterway before spotting a boat matching the description in one of the canals north of North Star.  Justin Snisky (Director of Search and Rescue) was notified by Mr. Waugh who in turn directed Rod Lowe and Bobby Osborne to the location.

“Thank God it was d’Von’s boat and it still had both engines intact.  Isn’t it nice when a plan can come together like this with such good results from a volunteers Organization.”  “BASRA Grand Bahama comes through once again to the benefit of one of our own board members!” Explained Chairman of the Board for BASRA, Mr. Godfrey Waugh. Within five hours of the vessel being reported missing, it was found, identified, fingerprinted and towed to the nearest boat ramp.

A special THANK YOU goes out to John Bannister who noticed the vessel stolen,   the quick thinking BASRA Rescue Team (who sort of did me a favor; we really didn’t rescue anyone!), Justin Snisky, Rod Lowe, Godfrey Waugh, Ed Albury, Brian our Pilot, Bobby Osborne, The Police.

I appreciate all your hard work, quick response, and dedication.

The vessel was broken up in various areas, items stolen but it is great to know that I can have my boat back and with some repairs I will be back on the ocean again!

Thank you once again!
