Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - During this year's International Migratory Bird Day Celebration (IMBD) throughout the month of October the Garden of the Groves is hosting an art competition for young people. The theme of the contest is "Go Wild - Go Birding" whereby students' imagination is allowed to picture birds doing wild and funny things!

First prize for the best drawing or painting will be $ 100.00, second $50.00 and third $ 25.00 to be redeemed at Bellevue Business Depot or Bellevue Gifts.

The art competition is one of the many activities that the Garden organizes in October to heighten the awareness of bird migration. Thousands of birds make an amazing journey to or through Grand Bahama to either spend the winter here of just feed and rest for a few days before continuing on to South America for the winter.

Artwork may be submitted until Friday, October 28th. All works will be displayed in the Garden chapel where a panel of judges will select the winners on Saturday, October 29th at 3 pm.

For more information on all IMBD activities, please call the Garden of the Groves at 374-7778
