28th Annual Junior Junkanoo Parade Awards Held

NASSAU, The Bahamas -- The Hon. Dr. Daniel Johnson, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture (at the podium), addressed the 28th Annual Junior Junkanoo Awards Ceremony, June 10 at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium. Minister Johnson said the Ministry looks forward to another 28 years and beyond for Junior Junkanoo. 

The last parade contained the largest number of participating schools.  Minister Johnson thanked SOL Petroleum Bahamas Ltd., formerly ESSO, for its annual sponsorship over the 28 years and he thanked the students, teachers, school administrators and parents for their roles in the parade. Among prizes winning schools received were plaques and floating trophies.

Defending champions of the 2015 parade are 11-time champions 1-on-One in the Pre-School division; Tarpum Bay Primary School in the Primary division; Lyford Cay International School in the Junior division; and Preston A. Albury Senior High School in the Senior High divison.  Students shown are 1 on One Pre-School and Lyford Cay International School.   (BIS Photos/Derek Smith)
