Her Excellency also laid a wreath at waterside. During her remarks, she
said that as those present reflected on the past, all must also express
appreciation for the "loving support" given by the spouses, families
and loved ones of Defence Force personnel who sacrifice much in allowing
them time to serve The Bahamas. “Your country is most grateful for your
forbearance and for the love which you show by supporting your men and
women, who serve our country so admirably," Her Excellency said.
She added: "As the Defence Force enters and new era of development,
continuing to confront new challenges, I am delighted to convey the
gratitude and appreciation of the Government and people of The Bahamas
for the tenacity and resilience of all of the members of our Defence
Force in preserving the peace and security of our nation, and 'Guarding
Our Heritage'.” (BIS Photos / Eric Rose)
