FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – Grand Bahama will celebrate the 45th Anniversary of Bahamas Independence with activities from East to West Grand Bahama starting on Sunday, June 24 and running through Saturday, July 28, 2018.

During a press conference at the Office of the Prime Minister, Minister of State for Grand Bahama, Senator the Hon. J. Kwasi Thompson, noted that the theme for this year’s celebration, ‘Celebrate Bahamas: We’ve come this far by Faith’, is a fitting one.

“We have an opportunity to focus on our history, on our struggles, on our triumphs, all of which have helped us and helped to shape us into the people who we are today. Most certainly as someone who has lived here in Grand Bahama all his life, I can think of no better way of celebrating our theme than to say in Grand Bahama, we’ve come this far by faith.

“You will note also that this year’s theme has a spiritual aspect. Recognizing we are who we are, only by the Grace of God. Our country and we here in Grand Bahama have much to give God thanks for.  And despite our challenges, we are a Blessed nation.”

The Minister added that Independence is a time that unites Bahamians.
