The Bahamas hosted the 7th Annual Public Software Regional Workshop February 22 and 23, 2018 at SuperClubs Breezes.
The workshop’s main objective was to incorporate the countries of the Caribbean area into the Regional Collaborative Public Software Mechanism that is being implemented by the e-Government Network of Latin America and the Caribbean (Red GEALC), with the support of the Regional Public Goods Initiative of the Inter-American Development Bank (BID).
Organizers of the event were Roberto Lopez (Red GEALC Manager), Carol Roach (Acting Director, Department of Information Technology), Alexandre Veyrat and Inga Carey (Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) representatives).
Public Software presentations were:
1. Tenoli-LAT – A Software that shares and exchanges secure data using Internet and simple electronic signature. Eric Ramírez (Director of e-Gov, El Salvador) presented on ‘Interoperability.’
2. SIMPLE-LAT – An online system for the implementation of electronic processes using a simplified designer, developed to provide a flexible solution in a friendly, fast and simple manner. Kaime Ruibal (Director of online Services, Uruguay) presented on ‘Automation of procedures.’
3. SINMA-LAT- ystem that allows in a screen or dashboard, visualization of alerts sent by sensors, equipment with GPS, GIS Systems, Web Services, Traffic in real time, or citizens from Apps on Mobile Devices. Anabel Broce (Director of Architecture and Systems, AIG, Panama) presented on ‘Natural Disaster Management.’
4. Murachi-LAT- A web service that incorporates in a simple way the signature and verification of electronically signed documents in systems such as email or web pages. Kenny Ossa (President of the National Information Technology Center (CNTI), Venezuela) presented on ‘Electronic Signature.’
Countries participating were The Bahamas, Guyana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago.
The workshop ended on a successful note with all regional countries promising to network and collaborate with Red GEAL to advance electronic government in their respective countries.
