NASSAU, The Bahamas – During National Women’s Week, last
week, the Bureau of Women’s Affairs of the Ministry of Social Services and
Community Development organized a number of activities especially focused on
Women and the Environment.
To
commemorate the day (November 26, 1962) when women in The
Bahamas voted for the first time, the Minister of Social Services &
Community Development the Hon. Melanie Griffin on November 26 celebrated the
anniversary by inviting school students and the community to a screening of the
video documentary, “Womanish Ways, Freedom, Human Rights and Democracy” – a documentary
on the Suffrage Movement by Marion Bethel, presented in the Hearing Room of
Aventura Plaza, where the Ministry of located.
