NASSAU, The Bahamas -- (July 3) Bahamians enjoyed the Sunday afternoon Beat Retreat downtown that launched the week of Bahamas 44th Independence Celebrations to the theme, "Toward the Rising Sun: One God, One People, One Bahamas." 

Governor General Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling, Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Hubert Minnis and Mrs. Minnis attended and are pictured viewing the parade.  National Pride Day -- a day of ceremony, music, food, and fun will take place this Friday, July 7, in Rawson and Parliament Squares, from 10:00 a.m. into the night.
 
The traditional Grand Anniversary Celebrations will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, at Clifford Park with Bands, Ecumenical Service, March Past, and Cultural Show, leading up to Flag Raising, and followed by a Junkanoo Rush in the earliest hours of July 10, Independence Day.   (BIS Photos)
