Bahamas Holds First Annual Regional Trafficking In Persons Committee Forum

Nassau, The Bahamas - Minister of National Security the Hon. Marvin Dames addresses the opening ceremony for the first Annual Regional Trafficking In Persons Committee (TIPCOM) Forum, on May 6, 2021, at his Ministry in the Orville Turnquest Complex, John F. Kennedy Drive.  The forum was held virtually under the theme “A Regional Discussion on Successes and Challenges In Anti-Trafficking Activities.”  Countries that participated virtually in the forum included Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Haiti, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Turks and Caicos Islands.  U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Usha Pitts and Chair of the Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Committee Police Superintendent Tess Newbold also spoke at the opening, while Police Inspector Altida Bowles was the moderator.  Also present with Minister Dames at the opening were Acting Permanent Secretary Cheryl Darville, National Crime Intelligence Agency Director Anthony Ferguson, Craig Powell of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sgt. Sterlin Knowles of the TIP Secretariat, and Cheryl Carroll of Social Services.  (BIS Photos / Eric Rose)
