NASSAU, The Bahamas -- Mr. Paul Major (at microphone), chairman of The Bahamas National Festival Commission (BNFC), and other executives released the 2016 Report on Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival during a press conference on Tuesday, Sept 27, 2016 at the commission's offices, downtown.

The report detailed the financial impact, insights, marketing and events of the carnival. Stating that the release of the report is not ‘late’ as some persons would suggest, Mr. Major noted, "a report of such magnitude would normally take 90-120 days or 3-4 months.

According to the report, for 2016 Total Expenses were $9,878,155; Total Subsidy $8,110,787; Total Revenue $1,798,757. Mr. Major said carnival is not something that is a profit venture; and that it is not a profit venture anywhere in the world. He remarked it is the powerful economic multiplier effect for tourism and local employment that is the benefit. (BIS Photo)
