Bahamas Permanent UN Mission in Geneva celebrates independence‏

The Bahamas Permanent Mission to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva celebrated the 41st Anniversary of Independence with the small Bahamian community in Geneva and members of the diplomatic corps. The reception, hosted at the Kempinski Hotel on Lake Geneva, was held on Wednesday 9 July 2014.

Her Excellency Rhoda M. Jackson, Ambassador and Permanent Representative, welcomed the honoured guests and shared the Prime Minister's message on the celebration of our cultural heritage. Ambassador Jackson also thanked her diplomatic colleagues for their individual and collective support throughout the first year of her time in office since the establishment of the Permanent Mission in Geneva. The Permanent Mission was also represented by Ms. Bernadette Butler, Minister-Counsellor, and Mr. Granville Don Butler III, Third Secretary, along with local staff members.

The reception which was described as a "festive" event was widely attended by members of the diplomatic community in Geneva and representatives of the various international organizations. Guests were treated to Bahamian culinary delights such as conch fritters, Benny and peanut cakes.
