The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas has expressed the country’s condolences to the Government and people of Vanuatu on the passing of Vanuatu’s President, Reverend Baldwin Lonsdale.  President Lonsdale died suddenly on Saturday of a reported heart attack.

Vanuatu sits in the South Pacific Ocean, and like The Bahamas, is internationally classified as a Small Island Developing State (SIDS).  Vanuatu also shares membership, with The Bahamas, in the Commonwealth of Nations.  The Bahamas has maintained cordial diplomatic relations with Vanuatu since 1998.

The Bahamas has expressed condolences to President Lonsdale's family and to the Government and people of Vanuatu.
