Bahamian Wins A Top Award in Photo Competition in China

BEIJING, China -  Bahamian photographer and journalist Eric Rose recently became the first foreigner to win a top prize in a prestigious photography competition in Beijing, China. 

The contest is named 影事聚 (Ying Shi Ju), which means "Taking photos, Telling story, Being together".  Mr. Rose won the top prize in the still-life photography category, marking the first win for a foreigner in its 12 years of existence.  His win was even more noteworthy because he had two photographs in the finals, an even rarer accomplishment.  Both photographs were taken in The Bahamas, with the winning photograph being taken in San Salvador. 

Mr. Rose is a Senior Information Officer at the Bahamas Information Services and is currently in Beijing pursuing his International Masters in International Communications at the Communications University of China, through a scholarship awarded by the Government of the People's Republic of China.  He is also the Class Monitor / President and is active in his university's community, including being the first non-Mandarin-speaking host of the university's New Years Gala.
