Due to the pending threat of Hurricane Matthew, Bahamian nationals living or studying in Jamaica will be airlifted by the Bahamas government
on Saturday, October 1st.
The Bahamasair flight 971 will depart Nassau at 6pm and arrive in Kingston at 7.30pm, returning on Bahamasair 972 departing Kingston at 8.20pm and arriving in Nassau by
10pm.
The
Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was informing parents of students
studying in Jamaica, as well as the students themselves, that a
Bahamasair flight will depart from Norman Manley International Airport,
Kingston, at 8.20pm on Saturday.
People are asked to be at the airport at least two hours prior to departure.
Hurricane Matthew, a powerful category 4 storm, is forecast to hit Jamaica late Sunday.
The Ministry's statement issued today said,"The Jamaican Government
and the education institutions have assured the Bahamas Government that
all the necessary safety precautions are in place in preparation of the
hurricane for those who choose to stay."

The flight can accommodate 120 people.
