PANAMA CITY, Panama -- His Excellency C.A. Smith, Non-resident Ambassador of The Bahamas to Panama, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Panama, His Excellency Juan Carlos Varela, June 26, 2018 at the Presidential Palace. Accompanying President Varela was the Vice-President and Foreign Minister of Panama, Her Excellency Isabel de Saint Malo.
The discussions following the presentation were cordial with the Ambassador expressing his interest in bolstering diplomatic ties between the two countries. He notably outlined the two countries’ similarities, such as a shared respect for maritime culture and the importance of financial services. President Varela concurred with Ambassador Smith and expressed his admiration for The Bahamas, particularly in the tourism sector, recounting his personal travels to the country as a tourist.

In concluding the meeting, the President and Vice-President congratulated Ambassador Smith on his appointment and conveyed their best wishes for his success.
