Cabinet Office: State Funeral Events - Road Closure and Diversion

INFORMATION:


The State Funeral Service for the late Chief Justice Stephen Isaacs will be held on
Friday 7'h September, 2018, at Christ Church Cathedral Anglican/Episcopal Church George and King Streets commencing at 11:00am

The Chief Justice remains will lie in the Supreme Court Building between Bank Lane and Parliament Street on Thursday 6111 September, 2018 from 10:00am until 6:00pm.

On Thursday 6th September 2018 at 8:00am the mortal remains of the Chief Justice will be escorted from Butler's Funerc1I Home and Crematorium by Police Outriders to the Supreme Court Building for viewing and the book of condolences will also be signed. During the laying out of the body there will be an official viewing from the Governor General Dame Marguerite Pindling, the Prime Minister, The Acting Chief Justice, leader of the Opposition, Members of Parliament and other dignitaries. The body will lie in the Supreme Court Building until 10:00am Friday 28th September 2012. The body will then be taken to Christ Church Cathedral Anglican Episcopal Church George and King Streets for the official State Service.

ROUTE OF PROCESSION FROM THE SUPREME COURT

At 10:00 am on Friday 711' September 2012 the funeral procession will leave Bank lane with the Chief Justice remains and travel west on Bay Street to George Street, south on

George Street, concluding at Christ Church Cathedral Anglican Episcopal Church George and King Streets, where the State Service will commence at 11:00 am.

After the State Service, the mourning party will assemble on George and King Streets, where the last Post and Reveille will commence. On completion the mortal remains of the Chief Justice will be escorted back to Butler's Funeral Homes and Crematorium, where it will be cremated.

ROAD CLOSURE:

From 6:00am on Thursday 6th September 2018, the following Streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:-

  • BANK LANE BETWEEN SHIRLEY STREET AND BAY STREET

On Friday 7'" September, 2018, from 6:00am until after the procession departs Bank Lane to George Street, the following Streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:-

  • BAY STREET BETWEEN EAST STREET AND NAVY LION ROAD- BOTH SIDES
  • PARLIAMENT STREET BETWEEN SHIRLEY STREET AND WOODES RODGERS
  • WHARF - BOTH SIDES
  • CHARLOTTE STREET BETWEEN SHIRLEY STREET AND WOODES RODGERS
  • WHARF
  • FREDERICK STREET
  • MARKET STREET BETWEEN BAY, PRINCESS ANO DUKE STREETS
  • GEORGE STREET BETWEEN BAY AND DUKE STREETS
  • KING STREET BETWEEN CUMBERLAND AND MARKET STREETS

TRAFFIC DIVERSION:

From 6.00am to 11:00am on Friday 7th September, 2018 traffic will be diverted north along Navy Lion Road to Woodes Rodgers Wharf, east on Woodes Rodgers Wharf to East Street south on East Street to Bay Street continuing east on Bay Street. Further no traffic will be permitted to enter Bay Street during this time from Charlotte Street, Parliament Street and Frederick Street.

From 10:30am until the State Service has concluded, vehicular traffic will be diverted to streets away from the service. The public is expected to adhere to these changes.

NO PARKING

On Thursday 6th September 2018, from 6:00am to 6:00pm, No vehicles will be allowed to park on the following streets:-

  • BANK LANE-BOTH SIDES
  • EAST STREET-BETWEEN SHIRLEY AND BAY STREETS

On Friday 7th September 2018, between the hours of 6:00am to 11:00am, No vehicles will be allowed to park on the following streets:-

  • BANK LANE - BOTH SIDES
  • CHARLOTTE STREET -  BOTH SIDES
  • WOODES RODGERS WHARF - BOTH SIDES
  • BAY STREET BETWEEN EAST STREET AND NAVY LION ROAD - BOTH SIDES
  • NAVY LION ROAD - BOTH SIDES
  • GEORGE STREET - BOTH SIDES

PARKING

Parking will be permitted at the old Kelly's Ware House Site East and Bay Streets
Government House lower ground and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church grounds, St. Mary the Virgin Church Grounds.
