Child Protection Month Seminar Held for Students

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – With April recognized as Child Protection Month, The Ministry of Social Services held a one-day seminar for high school students addressing dating violence, on Tuesday at the C.A. Smith Building.

The theme for the month is "Protecting our Children, Protecting our Future", and the seminar was one of many events scheduled to bring about awareness to the public that when it comes to protecting the children of the country, it is everyone's job.

Other activities scheduled for the month, which began with a church service at Christ the King:
  • Seminar on the Child Protection Act/Domestic Violence Act, and the launch of Parenting Group-Family Services supplemental to national parenting.
  • The Child, Family and School Welfare Department to hold a symposium geared towards assisting parents who believe their children are in toxic relationships.
  • The Department will also target the trend of truancy in schools.
