Constitutional Reform Commission Visits West End

WEST END, Grand Bahama – Members of the Constitutional Reform Commission gave presentations on the proposed Constitution Bill amendments, at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church Parish Hall on March 13. Conducting the presentations and commentary were: Retired Justice Rubie Nottage, Co-Chairperson Public Education Programme; the Hon. Theresa Moxey-Ingraham, Co-Chairperson, Public Education Programme; and Miss Brandace Duncanson, member, Constitutional Commission.

Mrs. Moxey-Ingraham said the purpose of their trip to West End was to explain the proposed changes to the Constitution. They explained the process required for constitutional change and clarified any doubts or misconceptions that community members may have with regard to the proposals.

Mrs. Nottage added that they were happy to be in West End and had a wonderful reception. She added, "We feel they are satisfied that we brought clarity to the amendments of the constitution bills. We understand that many of them have been watching the already recorded sessions and we feel they are getting to understand what the Bills are all about. This is an improvement and we are happy that our work is meeting its mark."

Also present during the meeting were Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville, along with Permanent Secretary for the Ministry for Grand Bahama, Melvin Seymour.
