Consul General Katherine B Smith makes courtesy call on Atlanta’s Mayor

ATLANTA -- The Bahamas’ Consul General to Atlanta, Katherine B Smith paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of the City of Atlanta Kasim Reed.

During the course of their discussions, Mayor Reed noted that he made his decision to run for Mayor while on vacation in The Bahamas, which has become a favourite vacation spot.

The Consul General discussed various opportunities that could be developed between the City of Atlanta and the islands of The Bahamas.

Until recently, Mayor Reed represented the 35th District of the Georgia State Senate . He was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002.

On December 1, 2009, Mr Reed was elected the City’s 59th Mayor.

Consul General Smith presented Mayor Reed with a copy of the 50thAnniversary Edition of the 2010 Bahamas Handbook.
