Nassau, The Bahamas - As the E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival New Providence adjudications started at the Dundas Centre for the Performing Arts, on March 11, 2019,  it was dance that took to the stage first.  Little girls from One On One Preschool formed a modern dance group, while Javon Kemp, Jr., performed as a solo community entrant in the Bahamian Folk Dance class.  Joining them, in the International Folk Dance Group class, The Eva Hilton Primary Dance Troupe female students utilized hand fans and chairs, and the St. Anne's School brought African rhythms to the stage.  Dance Adjudicator and Cultural Icon, Lawrence Carroll gave the students and teachers pointers, and encouraged them in the craft.  Over the next two weeks, over 1100 entrants in New Providence are expected to take part in dance, drama, voice, playing musical instruments and the arts and craft.  The Dundas Centre is the venue for dance, musical instruments and drama, while the Holy Trinity Church Activities Centre, in Stapledon Gardens, is the venue for vocal performances.  All events are free and open to the public.  (BIS Photos/Eric Rose)
