FREEPORT, Grand Bahama - Ladies of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (DSTS), paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville on Friday.

During the courtesy call the ladies presented the Minister with suggestions on job creation.

In response, Minister Darville on behalf of the Government and the Ministry for Grand Bahama thanked the ladies for their visit and presentation. He told them that with the unemployment rate at over 14 percent in Nassau, and 18 per cent in Grand Bahama, the Government is always interested in getting ideas from groups such as theirs, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

The Minister also said, “the Government has many programmes in place to stop the continuous rise of unemployment, and encourage the training that’s necessary to get those who are unemployable to a level where they can gain the skills necessary to go back into the job market.

“As the economy of Grand Bahama rebounds, it is important for us now to look very carefully at all of the tertiary and technical vocational institutes on Grand Bahama to see how we can best utilize these training facilities going forward.”
