Bahamas Department of Correctional Services Marks 62 Years

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services celebrates 62 years of excellent service at the facility on Fox Hill Road in a special “Correctional Services Recognition Week” under the theme, Agents of Change: Transitioning from Punitive to Corrections, November 2-8, 2014.

Sunday morning, the start of the recognition week, began with a Fallen Comrades Ceremony at the Wall of Remembrance on the compound. On Sunday afternoon, men and women of the Department marched in their Annual Parade from Windsor Park to Collins Avenue, where the Annual Church Service was held at Evangelistic Temple.

Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling, Governor General, was in attendance at the church service. Minister of National Security the Hon. Dr. Bernard Nottage gave an address of the Evangelistic Temple congregation.

The week will continue with Awards Luncheon (Monday), Community Outreach at Demetruis Home for the Aged (Tuesday), Prison Pop and Marching Bands display in Rawson Square (Wednesday), ‘Officer of the Year’ Luncheon (Thursday), Graduation Ceremony for 99 Trainee Correctional Officers (Friday), and Mini Fair and Closing Ceremony at Montague Beach (Saturday).
