FREEPORT, Grand Bahama -- Eleventh grade student of Eight Mile Rock High School, Chloe Stuart, was the winner of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association's 2015 Children's Environmental Poster Competition, and was presented with a plaque and cheque on Monday, December 7, during a brief ceremony onboard the Carnival Fantasy in Freeport Harbour.

During the ceremony, the Captain of Carnival Fantasy, Stefano Battinelli said he was pleased to make the presentation on behalf of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association, and was happy that the topic would teach future generations how to protect the environment.

Nuvolari Chotoosingh of the Ministry of Tourism said he was particularly pleased that the winner was not only from Grand Bahama, but Eight Mile Rock. Stating that Ms. Stuart could follow in the footsteps of famous Bahamian artists like Brent Malone or Eddie Minnis, he said, when speaking with young people, he always stresses the importance of taking advantage of opportunities presented as they never know where they may lead.

Following the ceremony, the group was taken on a tour of the cruise ship and then given lunch.
