False Social Media Posting on the Relocation of the Passport Office to the Town Centre Mall
By Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Feb 12, 2020 - 8:36:01 PM

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to advise the public that contrary to postings being circulated on social media, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not entered into or pursuing any lease agreement with the owners of the Town Centre Mall, to relocate the Passport Office to that location. The rumours are patently false.

The public should note however, that the government in  its efforts to bring service closer to the people and making the process of obtaining passports easier, safer and faster has approved the opening of sub passport offices in New Providence at the Elizabeth Estates and Carmichael road post offices. These offices would allow persons to apply for the renewal of their e-‐passports.

The Ministry further advises the public that passport services will soon be rolled out  in  the  following  family  islands:  Inagua,  Exuma,  Long  Island  and  Central  Eleuthera. The offices in Exuma and Inagua should be operational by March, 2020. The islands of Central Eleuthera and Long Island will follow soon after. No longer will  family  islanders  have  to  travel  to  the  Capital  to  apply  for  or  renew  their  e-‐passports. The Ministry urges the public to refer to the official government sources to confirm information of such vital importance.
