Foreign Affairs Celebrates 16 Bahamians Chosen for Chinese Government Scholarship Awards

NASSAU, The Bahamas -Sixteen Bahamian students received scholarships from the Government of the People’s Republic of China to study and complete Master’s Degrees in China. The candidates will be equipped in either International Economics of Business Administration, or Public Diplomacy.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with China’s Ambassador, H.E. Yuan Guisen, and representatives from the Embassy of The People’s Republic of China, held a ceremony with parents and loved ones of the scholarship recipients in the first floor Boardroom at the Foreign Affairs Ministry in the Goodman’s Bay Corporate Centre, West Bay Street, November 7. H.E. Yuan Guisen and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Fred Mitchell gave scholarship certificates to the young scholars.

The awardees are: D’Andra Andrews, Anishka Bethune, Nadia Bowe, Janeille Brathwaite, Angelo Butler, Dayvan Carey, Gregory Culmer, Oquendo Lewis, Keevon Maynard, Tammi Miller, Anna Amelia Moss, Heneka Rolle, Lavert Ross, Ecarscha Ambrose-Smith, Joshua Thompson, and Tamara Turnquest.

Bahamas China Friendship Association (BCFA) President Anthony Capron attended the ceremony, along with Regional Vice-President, Philip Simon, of the China Friendship Federation of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Federation is a bilateral organisation, branched out from the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC).
