Nassau, The Bahamas - The Ministry of Public Works held a press conference to make the public aware of its intent to, as Prime Minister Minnis said, 'go green and go solar,' Wednesday April 24, at its head offices.  Minister of Public Works, the Hon. Desmond Bannister said the Ministry cannot be left behind and has to look to the future.  Minister Bannister spoke with Pia and John Farmer, partners in Easy Car Sales, about acquiring electric vehicles. The Farmers showed Minister Bannister the advantages of electric vehicles compared to gas and hybrid vehicles. The Minister found out that electric vehicles, which are guaranteed for eight years, also can save the buyer monies since you would not have to purchase gas or parts for the vehicle. Minister Bannister congratulated four of the ministry's employees who were trained in taking care of the electric vehicles. The Farmers said more training would take place in conjunction with the Ministry.  Minister Bannister, centre, presents Bertram Mackey with his certificate upon completion of the electric vehicle training course as Pia and John Farmer (right) and Permanent Secretary Antoinette Thompson look on.  (BIS Photos/Kristaan Ingraham)
