FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – Minister for Grand Bahama the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville has confirmed that a major trade and investment mission is set for Grand Bahama this coming weekend.

In a statement released late Friday evening, the Minister said that it is a pleasure to stand with the Ministry of Financial Services, The Bahamas Investment Authority, and private partners to introduce ‘Investment & Trade Mission: Hubei China to The Bahamas,’ which will be held on November 29 to December 2, 2015 at the Grand Lucayan Resort.

“I am pleased Grand Bahama Island was selected as the destination for Match-Making Sessions between China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), from the Hubei Province, and business persons throughout The Bahamas,” the Minister said.

Led by Hubei Province government officials, the delegation will consist of executives from various Hubei enterprises, whose mission is to seek potential investment opportunities in The Bahamas, and to promote bilateral trade with those industries represented.

“This investment and trade mission will provide for trade and expansion opportunities for both Hubei China and The Bahamas, particularly Grand Bahama. As Grand Bahama is the industrial and maritime capital of The Bahamas, there are endless possibilities,” Dr. Darville stated.

Further, he said that he was excited that this trade mission will not just assist large businesses, but will also allow those small and medium-sized businesses that may wish to explore this avenue, to forge working business relations with the visiting entities.

He added that it was also his understanding that a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed to develop relations between CCPIT Hubei and the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce, to promote economic, trade and technical cooperation.

Dr. Darville feels that as small and medium-sized businesses are the engines that drive the economy, the possibilities are endless.

He took the opportunity to thank Immerse Bahamas, the lead facilitators, for their outstanding efforts in organizing and co-sponsoring the mission.

Additionally he acknowledged and commended the various partners involved with the event, including the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce, Grand Bahama Port Authority, Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board, His Excellency Yuan Guisen, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to The Bahamas, and many others inclusive of government agencies.

In closing, Dr. Darville said “I encourage all business owners to take advantage of this opportunity, to register for and attend this conference, as I am of a firm belief that the possibilities for expansion and development are indeed endless.”
