NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Government of The Bahamas signed a historical contract with AEG, one of the world’s leading sporting and entertainment presenters, for the management of the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium on Friday, May 22, 2015.  The company has a worldwide presence and manages venues in the United States and globally. The contract signing ceremony was held at the Office of the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Perry G. Christie said that the contract signals a ‘brand new day’ for the country.

“I am proud and pleased to be present for the signing of this contract, which represents a historical occasion in the development of the country,” said Mr. Christie.  “The government is partnering with the best company in the world for the management of the stadium.”

He said that the government’s decision to pursue partnership with the company was a result of the Ministry of Tourism’s desire to invest in sports tourism.  The contract signing, he said, demonstrated to the Bahamian people the government’s seriousness about sports and other events by engaging the most renowned managers of stadium complexes.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the Hon. Dr. Daniel Johnson expressed his excitement for the new contract and said that his ministry is

committed to working with AEG in order to get the best experience possible.

Chuck Steedman of AEG said he looked forward to partnering with all stakeholders to bring some of the world’s major events to the country, including basketball and football matches, and concerts by celebrated performers.
