Nassau, Bahamas- The Cabinet Office wishes to advise, by way of correction and clarification of its earlier public notice, that given the unique historical significance of the attainment of Majority Rule on January 10, 1967, the forthcoming public holiday commemorating this event will be observed on the actual anniversary date, viz Tuesday, 10th January, 2017.  This is particularly appropriate as 10th January, 2017 will be the 50th Anniversary of Majority Rule in The Bahamas.

It should also be noted for future reference that Majority Rule Day will always be observed on the actual date – viz January 10th of each year. However, where that date should happen to fall on a Saturday or Sunday, the public holiday will be observed on the following Monday.

This announcement supersedes and replaces any previous announcement on this topic.
