Nassau, The Bahamas - Minister of State for Investments the Hon. Khaalis Rolle presented remarks at a “Doing Business with The Bahamas” Forum in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, on Tuesday, September 27th, 2016.

"As Minister of State for Investments I am looking forward to the opportunity to meet and discuss investment opportunities for our country with over 180 companies in the South Florida community," Minister Rolle said at a press conference at the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce.

He added that the forum would allow The Bahamas to strengthen its ties and encourage collaboration with the private sector in South Florida.

"South Florida is commonly known to Bahamians, and many South Floridians invest and live in The Bahamas," Minister Rolle said. He said that in 2013 it was reported that "Bahamians and expats spend an estimated $2 billion per year in South Florida.”

He added, "I am looking forward to meeting the Mayor of Ft. Lauderdale and engaging in high level discussions about how we can build the investment community between the two countries."

Minister Rolle said that the Bahamas Investment Authority along with the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce had worked in tandem to facilitate such an event that will be beneficial for The Bahamas.

"As anchor speaker for the forum, I plan to bring a greater awareness to the many untapped industries available in The Bahamas, targeted for Foreign Direct Investment," he said. "I would also like to thank the U.S. Embassy in The Bahamas for its help in planning and ensuring the success of this forum."
