Minister Pintard Meets With B.R.E.E.F. Executive Director

Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources, Hon. Michael Pintard met with the Executive Director of the Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation or B.R.E.E.F., Casuarina McKinney-Lambert at the Ministry on Friday, July 13, 2018.

The courtesy call gave Minister Pintard and Executive Director McKinney-Lambert the opportunity to discuss the current state of affairs in the marine resources portion of Minister Pintard’s portfolio as well as efforts being worked on by B.R.E.E.F. as they seek to secure our marine resources for future generations.

The candid discussion covered a range of issues including educational programs for marine awareness, expansion of the marine protected areas of The Bahamas, preservation of threatened species, remediation efforts at Clifton Pier and other areas impacted, illegal poaching and the strengthening of laws to tackle illegal harvesting. Minister Pintard assured McKinney-Lambert of his commitment to a collaborative relationship in protecting our marine environment.

Also present at the meeting were Parliamentary Secretary within the Ministry of Agriculture & Marine Resources Carlton Bowleg, Acting Permanent Secretary Alphaeus Forbes and Deputy Director of Marine Resources, Gregory Bethel. Casuarina McKinney-Lambert is also a member of the Fisheries Advisory Council appointed by the Ministry of Agriculture & Marine Resources.
