Nassau, Bahamas - Remarks And Tribute On The Passing of Former Senator Clara Rose Hall-king by Senator The Hon. Dion A. Foulkes, Minister Of Labour:

Your Excellency, Dame Marguerite Pindling, Governor-General,

Bishop Laish Boyd,

Presiding Prelate,

Cabinet Colleagues,

Chief Justice,

President of Court of Appeals,

Mr. Philip Davis, Leader of the Opposition,

Former Prime Minister(s)

Parliamentary Colleagues,

Members of the bereaved family,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good morning.

It is a privilege to have been asked to represent the Government in bringing tribute to the life and legacy of Former Senator Clara Rose Hall-King.

To all of the bereaved family but especially her children:

She was a giant of woman who truly exemplified the virtues shown by the Biblical heroines of old.

How many of us in this sacred space, in knowing of her full life, her commitment and her sacrifices, can fail to see the very highest qualities of motherhood, patriotism and love of God?

Her long life and achievements both in Christian ministry and secular commitments was not like a light hidden under a bushel, but shone forth brightly for all the world to see.

In Matthew Chapter 7 Our Lord says: “Ye shall know them by their fruits”. I and indeed the entire Bahamas know at least on such child of Senator Hall-King, Justice Burton Hall, whom I am honoured to call a friend.

Through his long life of stalwart service to our Nation and internationally. He served as Solicitor General, Justice of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice and as a Justice on the International Court.

All of the other children have also made significant contributions to the building of our nation.

Such fruits do not come from any ordinary tree!

On behalf of my wife Emma and me, the Government and the People of The Bahamas, I extend to the bereaved family our deepest sympathies. May She rest in peace, and rise in Glory.
