From the Minister of State for Grand Bahama in the Office of the Prime Minister, Senator the Hon. J. Kwasi Thompson

The Office of the Prime Minister commends Itelbpo on its recent expansion announcement. The company has been doing business in Freeport, Grand Bahama since 2013. Itelbpo is now a global business, and one of this region’s largest home-grown Product Outsourcing Businesses. They presently have three respective call centre facilities within the Caribbean and Central America with another call centre facility in Tampa, Florida.

The Government is pleased that Itelbpo has recently announced plans to hire an additional 100 Bahamian employees within the next five months, the first 25 of whom will begin in August of this year. The company’s expansion will accommodate the addition of newly formed business units to handle increase call volume for new clients.

The Government is especially pleased that this expansion is in keeping with our Grand Bahama Tech Hub Initiative. Itelbpo was one of the first technology companies to come to Grand Bahama and participate in the Grand Bahama Tech Summit.

The Government has committed to working with Itelbpo to ensure that Grand Bahamians are able to take advantage of every opportunity. To build a skills bank of qualified Bahamian candidates, The Office of The Prime Minister-Grand Bahama will collaborate with Itelbpo to coordinate a job fair to provide Bahamians with the opportunity to apply for potential positions.

We are advised that Itelbpo will be recruiting qualified applicants to execute the following core call centre responsibilities:

▪ Inbound & Outbound Sales & Reservations
▪ Inbound & Outbound Customer Service
▪ Outbound NPS Surveys
▪ Outbound Collections
▪ Market Research
▪ Digital Marketing (PPC)
▪ Social Media Management

I wish to congratulate Itelbpo for its ability to grow its workforce in the Grand Bahamian market by 100 per cent. Itelbpo along with a number of other companies continue to show investor confidence in the Grand Bahama economy. I encourage all interested Grand Bahamians to position themselves to take full advantage of the opportunities offered.

As stated earlier, the company’s workforce expansion, puts 100 new jobs into Grand Bahama’s economy, and stands as proof positive that we are on the right track towards the economic recovery we all desire for Grand Bahama, and in so doing we are and signalling to domestic and international investors that “Grand Bahama is open for business”!
