Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Praised 'Stars' Who Kept Hugh Campbell Tournament Alive

Nassau, The Bahamas - Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture the Hon. Lanisha T. Rolle welcomed the 28 teams, parents and stakeholders, at the opening ceremony of the 2019 Hugh Campbell Basketball Tournament, on February 18, 2019, pointing out that it was opportunity to celebrate the "stars" of high school basketball.  "This is the 37th year, and, in this regard, I wish to commend the discipline of the organizers of this event for the past 37 years," she said, during her Declaration of Games address.  "To the wisdom of the Ministry of Education, the A. F. Adderley School, the Department of Sports, for your commitment to the teamwork necessary to keep this tournament alive and vibrant to the benefit of our youth, we say thank you."  Also among those taking part in the event were Acting Director of Education Dr. Marcellus Taylor; Director of Sports at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Timothy Munnings; and Southern District Superintendent of Education Theophilus Claridge.  (BIS Photos / Eric Rose)
